Autumn Photo Shoot South Wales
As a family photographer, you might think that I'm taking photos of my own family all the time, but that's not necessarily true. Yes, I've got loads of rubbish phone photos (my phone is awful!) but it takes a bit of effort for me to get my kids scrubbed up and ready for a shoot. I like to take them out at least once a year and capture them together with my 'proper camera'. This year it was the turn of the Autumn photo shoot...
So, I nipped out to the shops to get some new clothes for them - taking my own advice and buying a chunky mustard knit for my daughter. I knew I had a few family shoots coming up in the same location in the Autumn, so I used my kids and their friends as guinea pigs to test out the location. Turns out it was a winner!
There's so many great locations in South Wales. Depending on the time of year, you can find me shooting in a forest or on the beach. If you want to find out more about locations that I use for my family shoots, then check out my locations blog post.
I was very pleased to get my son to wear a pair of jeans for this shoot (small victories) as he normally prefers shorts or tracksuit bottoms and sliders. I've already printed a calendar for Grandma and a set of prints Nain and Taid from this shoot, as well as printing a set to frame for myself at home. Perks of the job! Gem x
Autumn Family Photo Session
There's something truly special about a family photo session. I love meeting families that want to capture the moment in time and feel so honoured when they chose me to help them do so. The Welsh weather isn't very predictable and so when I arrived at the gorgeous Autumnal setting of Castell Coch I was cautiously optimistic that we were going to have a dry day. I was very wrong. The whole area was covered in mist but the colours still looked beautiful. About 2 minutes into the session it started to rain and it didn't really stop. Inspite of the inclement conditions we did manage to get a beautiful set of images for this lovely family. Just looking at them you can feel the love shining through - what a lucky little girl to be wrapped in this love from both her parents. As the rain became heavier, we took shelter deep in the forest and searched for blackberries. I managed to get a lovely image of Alanna peeking back through the trees as she went off on an adventure. What a little sweetie pie. She was a superstar putting up with the rain and thoroughly deserved the promised hot chocolate at the end of the session. It was lovely to spend time with you all. Gem x

Autumn Portrait Sessions
I love visiting Llanblethian Baby & Toddler Group for the annual Autumn portrait sessions. It reminds of the days when I used to take my daughter there, so long ago now! It's a fab location for photos with a gorgeous little stream outside and in the Autumn we get lovely yellow and orange leaves too. I visited the group in November, just in time to get some portraits as Christmas presents. There is no session fee and prints start at only £15, so it's a great opportunity to get some fabulous portraits of your little ones. I visit local playgroups regularly, so keep an eye on my Facebook page for upcoming dates for Spring and Autumn portrait sessions! Gem x
