Well hello! It's been a while since I've blogged, due to the old global pandemic and everything, but I'm back with a bang! My first shoot back in 2021 was a Cardiff business photo shoot with the fabulous brand Eliza Eliza!
Based in Cardiff Eliza Eliza makes 'sustainable conscious bags with meaning.' She partners with charities and raises awareness of important issues. I was so excited when she contacted me for a business photo shoot as I've followed her Instagram account for ages and love her brand.
The brand shoot consisted of two sessions. The first session took place at Eliza Eliza HQ in Cardiff (also known has her kitchen). We had a fun morning creating images for her to use on her website and social media. The next session was on location in the lovely Vale of Glamorgan market town of Cowbridge. When Elizabeth and her friend Alex arrived I felt like the cat that got the cream. They looked amazing! They strutted up and down Cowbridge High Street modelling the beautiful Eliza Eliza range of bags. We had tote bags, clutch bags, purses - all with the distinctive Eliza Eliza linings. There was also scrunchies, sleep masks and yoga bags too!

Personal Branding Headshot Shoot
Meet Rhiannon. She's a freelance writer and blogger based in Cardiff, South Wales. You can read her hilarious honest writing on her blog The Daily Boyle.
I've been doing quite a lot of headshot and personal branding shoots so far this year but I have to say this is one of my favourites. With such a variety of settings and amazing light, I was like a kid in a sweetshop.
What is personal branding?
If like me, you work for yourself and run your own business, then you ARE your brand. It's important to be able to portray yourself and your business to clients. It's vital for them to believe and trust in you - as a person and a brand.
A quick selfie might do the job in the short term but it's worth investing in some professional photography for the future. Personal branding shoots can include anything that helps to portray you and your business. Images can then be used across your website and social media platforms.
For Rhiannon's shoot - I wanted to show all the different sides of her. Yes, she's funny and friendly and down to earth but she's also a writer. Her writing covers all sorts of areas, some happy, sad, serious, funny and thoughtful. I wanted to capture all sides of her personality so that she can use the images for her blog as and when she needs them.

Commercial Photography Shoot, South Wales.
Commercial photography shoot, South Wales. I first photographed this wonderful group a couple of years ago. I was asked to go back again in August to do a commercial shoot for them to refresh their images for their new leaflets. With Music in Mind is a singing group for people aged 50 and over to get together, to socialise and have fun! And boy, do they have fun! I absolutely love going to the group and hearing all the singing, it's so uplifting and heartwarming. I'm such a softie, so hearing this lot belt out a ballad is just wonderful. They have groups in Cowbridge and Barry and two new groups starting this Autumn in Llantwit Major and St Athan!
There's a great atmosphere amongst the group, lots of chatting, tea drinking and we even had an impromptu poetry reading at this session too. You can see from the images how much fun they are having and the WMIM team are a lovely bunch as well - very welcoming and caring. Mermaid Adventures Photo Shoot
Mermaid Adventures Photo Shoot
I'd never met a Mermaid before, so when Mermaid Sandy got in touch to ask if I'd be interested in a commercial shoot for her business Mermaid Adventures I was very excited! We love all things Mer in our house and I could quite happily spend every second of the day on the beach or in the water so it was a perfect fit. Mermaid Adventures is a local business that offers Mermaid experiences to all. You can book in for a Mermaid swimming lesson or have a Mermaid birthday party!
We had a group of fabulous kids who volunteered to help out on the shoot. They soon learnt, being a model isn't as glamourous as you'd think! They spent a long time at the shoot, with plenty of waiting around, but they all got to have a mermaid swimming lesson and photoshoot, so it wasn't too bad.
Above water, there was plenty of splashing and wearing some awesome hair accessories. Below the surface there was diving for shells, swimming through hoops and of course lots of posing.
As this was a commercial photo shoot for Mermaid Adventures, it was really important for me to focus on getting images that they could use on their new website and social media platforms over the next year or so. I focused on getting some action shots and showing how much fun the kids were having. They do so much in one lesson, I don't know how they fit it all in! Wall to wall fun with a touch of magic.
