Sunset surfer beach shoot

My little girl is off to secondary school soon. It feels like such an enormous change and she's growing up way too fast. I wanted to capture her spirit now, before she changes into a full blown teenager and what better way than to spend an evening at the beach with her best friends? They've all known each other since they were born and have so many precious memories together. They hand picked their outfits, chose their accessories and got ready together (whilst eating pizza). Then, we headed to Southerndown beach (our favourite) for the shoot. We had lots of fun and I absolutely loved seeing the girls together enjoying themselves. You're never to old to enjoy splashing each other in the sea, right?

The beach is my happy place and I loved getting in the sea with my camera (a first!) to take the surf shots. If you are a beach loving family and would like to capture your favourite place with your favourite people then please get in touch to find out about my location photo sessions. Gem x

Ballet Portraits

Even if you're a vague acquaintance of mine, you'd have to have been hiding under a rock (or not on Facebook) not to have heard the fabulous news that my son has been offered a place as a Junior Associate with The Royal Ballet School. We're all so excited we don't even know what to do with ourselves. I couldn't resist doing a little photo shoot with him and some of his besties in Cowbridge at the weekend. The words elegance and grace are not what you'd normally associate with me (I'm heavy footed to say the least), so I've no idea where this little twinkle toes came from.

Cousins Photo Session

Wow! I have to say, I absolutely love this shoot with five gorgeous cousins. Lots of planning went into it, we even had our own Facebook chat group to discuss outfits, hair styles and accessories. The shoot started off really well, with the sun going down in the distance and the meadows gently blowing in the breeze and then, of course, it started raining! Inspite of the inclement weather the girls were real troopers and we carried on with the shoot until we were all quite wet. The last time I photographed these guys was about 5 years ago and they have changed from five little cutie pies to five gorgeous young ladies. It was such a treat for me to photograph them again and I'm so happy with the results. Have a scroll down and see what you think. Gem x

Llanblethian Toddler Group Portrait Photography

My last visit to a local toddler group this Spring was to Llanblethian Baby & Toddler Group. We had a gloriously sunny day, which gave us a fantastic bright and sparkly backdrop to our portraits. Lots of beaming smiles again from this lot. An abundance of cuteness. I've shared a few of my favourites from the session below. This time I've included some black and white ones too which capture such a lot of emotion. Sometimes the more thoughtful look shows off a child's personality more than a smile... I'll be back in the Autumn time! Gem x

Colwinston Baby & Toddler Group

Another lovely visit to Colwinston Baby & Toddler Group for some Spring portraits. We were lucky to have an abundance of forget-me-nots to play in, which look amazing! There were some gorgeous smiles and for the first time I had cousins getting together - in a suitcase, as you do. Thanks for having me everyone. I'll be back in the Autumn time for some cosy, snuggly, leafy portraits! Gem x
